Utilizing your computer, webcam and high-speed Internet access, At Home – Inmate Visitation, similar to streaming or video conferencing, lets you connect via the Internet with inmates no matter where you are. 

When available, At Home – Inmate Visitation is by appointment from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Saturdays.  In addition, online visitation is unlimited, so inmates can participate in birthday parties, holiday celebrations and family gatherings.

At Home Visitation Rules

All visits are recorded and monitored for inappropriate contact. Visitors and inmates participating in behavior that may be inappropriate, offensive or involve criminal activity will be blocked from future access to At Home Visitation.

Terms and conditions for At Home – Visitation:

  • Each visit lasts either 20 or 40 minutes. 
  • All visits are recorded and subject to monitoring.
  • Visitors must log in on time for their scheduled visit. (see note below)
  • No nudity or provocative clothing
  • No disruptive or inappropriate behavior will be allowed.
  • Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Newport News Sheriff's Office reserves the right to deny registration for video visitation. In addition, the Sheriff's Office reserves the right to deny, cancel or terminate a video visit prior to or during a video session based upon visitor or resident inmate misconduct. The Sheriff's Office reserves the right to restrict or ban a visitor from participating in future use of the system

NOTE: Visitors logging in late will only receive the balance of the remaining visit time.

What do I need to do to visit from home?

To visit an inmate from your home computer, follow the steps below. Make certain you have a webcam attached to your computer or laptop and high-speed Internet access. Video cameras are inexpensive and can be purchased at major computer and electronic stores or online.

  1. Install your webcam and a microphone. Test your camera and microphone at Online Mictest .
  2. Create a visitation account at https://securustech.net/enroll
  3. Request access to visit the Newport News City Jail. Your request will be reviewed by jail staff.
  4. Once you are approved, you can schedule at-home visits.
  5. You must pay for your visitation session at the time you schedule the session.

The Newport News Sheriff’s Office is unable to assist with troubleshooting or account concerns.
